Psalm 97 – Amplified Bible

The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles and coast lands be glad!

² Clouds and darkness are round about Him [as at Sinai]; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

³ Fire goes before Him and burns up His adversaries round about.

⁴ His lightnings illumine the world; the earth sees and trembles.

⁵ The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

⁶ The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.

⁷ Let all those be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast in idols. Fall prostrate before Him, all you gods.

⁸ Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced [in relief] because of Your judgments, O Lord.

⁹ For You, Lord, are high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.

¹⁰ O you who love the Lord, hate evil; He preserves the lives of His saints (the children of God), He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

¹¹ Light is sown for the [uncompromisingly] righteous and strewn along their pathway, and joy for the upright in heart [the irrepressible joy which comes from consciousness of His favor and protection].

¹² Rejoice in the Lord, you [consistently] righteous (upright and in right standing with God), and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

Psalm 99 – Amplified Bible

The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble [with reverential fear]! He sits [enthroned] above the cherubim, let the earth quake!

² The Lord is great in Zion, and He is high above all the peoples.

³ Let them confess and praise Your great name, awesome andreverence inspiring! It is holy, and holy is He!

⁴ The strength of the king who loves righteousness and equity You establish in uprightness; You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob (Israel).

⁵ Extol the Lord our God and worship at His footstool! Holy is He!

⁶ Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the Lord, and He answered them.

⁷ He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies and the statutes that He gave them.

⁸ You answered them, O Lord our God; You were a forgiving God to them, although avenging their evildoing and wicked practices.

⁹ Extol the Lord our God and worship at His holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy!

Psalm 100 – Amplified Bible

A Psalm of thanksgiving and for the thank offering.

¹ Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!

² Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!

³ Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

⁴ Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

⁵ For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.

Psalm 94 – Amplified Bible

O Lord God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, O God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

² Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render to the proud a fit compensation!

³ Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph and exult?

⁴ They pour out arrogant words, speaking hard things; all the evildoers boast loftily.

⁵ They crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.

⁶ They slay the widow and the transient stranger and murder the unprotected orphan.

⁷ Yet they say, The Lord does not see, neither does the God of Jacob notice it.

⁸ Consider and understand, you stupid ones among the people! And you [self-confident] fools, when will you become wise?

⁹ He Who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He Who formed the eye, shall He not see?

¹⁰ He Who disciplines and instructs the nations, shall He not punish, He Who teaches man knowledge?

¹¹ The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile—only a breath).

¹² Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

¹³ That You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the [inevitable] pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.

¹⁴ For the Lord will not cast off nor spurn His people, neither will He abandon His heritage.

¹⁵ For justice will return to the [uncompromisingly] righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

¹⁶ Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

¹⁷ Unless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in [the land where there is] silence.

¹⁸ When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

¹⁹ In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!

²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You—they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under [the sacred name of] law?

²¹ They band themselves together against the life of the [consistently] righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

²² But the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

²³ And He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.

 O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation!

² Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!

³ For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

⁴ In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights andstrength of the hills are His also.

⁵ The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.

⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and supplication].

⁷ For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice,

⁸ Harden not your hearts as at Meribah and as at Massah in the day of temptation in the wilderness,

⁹ When your fathers tried My patience and tested Me, proved Me, and saw My work [of judgment].

¹⁰ Forty years long was I grieved and disgusted with that generation, and I said, It is a people that do err in their hearts, and they do not approve, acknowledge, or regard My ways.

Genesis 49:29-50:14 – Amplified Bible

And Jacob called for his sons and said, Gather yourselves together [around me], that I may tell you what shall befall you^[a]in the latter or last days.

² Gather yourselves together and hear, you sons of Jacob; and hearken to Israel your father.

³ Reuben, you are my ^[b]firstborn, my might, the beginning (the first fruits) of my manly strength and vigor; [your birthright gave you] the preeminence in dignity and the preeminence in power.

⁴ But unstable and boiling over like water, you shall ^[c]not excel and have the preeminence [of the firstborn], because you went to your father’s bed; you defiled it—he went to my couch!

⁵ Simeon and Levi are brothers [equally headstrong, deceitful, vindictive, and cruel]; their swords are weapons of violence.

⁶ O my soul, come not into their secret council; unto their assembly let not my honor be united [for I knew nothing of their plot], because in their anger they slew men [an honored man, Shechem, and the Shechemites], and in their self-will they disabled oxen.

⁷ Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob and ^[d]scatter them in Israel.

⁸ Judah, you are the one whom your brothers shall praise; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down to you.

¹³ Zebulun shall live toward the seashore, and he shall be a haven and a landing place for ships; and his border shall be toward Sidon.

¹⁴ Issachar is a strong-boned donkey crouching down between the sheepfolds.

¹⁵ And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear [his burdens] and became a servant to tribute [subjected to forced labor].

¹⁶ Dan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.

¹⁷ Dan shall be a serpent by the way, a horned snake in the path, that bites at the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.

¹⁹ Gad—a raiding troop shall raid him, but he shall raid at their heels and assault them [victoriously].

²² Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well (spring or fountain), whose branches run over the wall.

²³ Skilled archers have bitterly attacked and sorely worried him; they have shot at him and persecuted him.

²⁴ But his bow remained strong and steady and rested in the Strength that does not fail him, for the arms of his hands were made strong and active by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob, by the name of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,

²⁵ By the God of your father, Who will help you, and by the Almighty, Who will bless you with blessings of the heavens above, blessings lying in the deep beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

²⁶ The blessings of your father [on you] are greater than the blessings of my forefathers [Abraham and Isaac on me] and are as lasting as the bounties of the eternal hills; they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him who was the consecrated one and the one separated from his brethren and [the one who] is prince among them.

²⁷ Benjamin is a ^[e]ravenous wolf, in the morning devouring the prey and at night dividing the spoil.

²⁸ All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each one according to the blessing suited to him.

²⁹ He charged them and said to them, I am to be gathered to my [departed] people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

³⁰ In the cave in the field at Machpelah, east of Mamre in the land of Canaan, that Abraham bought, along with the field of Ephron the Hittite, to possess as a cemetery.

³¹ There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah.

³² The purchase of the field and the cave that is in it was from the sons of Heth.

³³ When Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his [departed] people.

50 Then Joseph fell upon his father’s face and wept over him and kissed him.

² And Joseph ordered his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel.

³ Then forty days were devoted [to this purpose] for him, for that is the customary number of days required for those who are embalmed. And the Egyptians wept and bemoaned him [as they would for royalty] for seventy days.

⁴ And when the days of his weeping and deep grief were past, Joseph said to [the nobles of] the house of Pharaoh, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, to Pharaoh [for Joseph was dressed in mourning and could not do so himself], saying,

⁵ My father made me swear, saying, I am about to die; in my tomb which I hewed out for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me. So now let me go up, I pray you, and bury my father, and I will come again.

⁶ And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear.

⁷ And Joseph went up [to Canaan] to bury his father; and with him went all the officials of Pharaoh—the nobles of his court,and the elders of his house and all the nobles and elders of the land of Egypt—

⁸ And all the household of Joseph and his brethren and his father’s household. Only their little ones and their flocks and herds they left in the land of Goshen.

⁹ And there went with [Joseph] both chariots and horsemen; and it was a very great company.

¹⁰ And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond [west of] the Jordan, and there they mourned with a great lamentation and extreme demonstrations of sorrow [according to Egyptian custom]; and [Joseph] made a mourning for his father seven days.

¹¹ When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning for the Egyptians. Therefore the place was called Abel-mizraim [mourning of Egypt]; it is west of the Jordan.

¹² Thus [Jacob’s] sons did for him as he had commanded them.

¹³ For his sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, east of Mamre, which Abraham bought, along with the field, for a possession as a burying place from Ephron the Hittite.

¹⁴ After he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brethren and all who had gone up with him.

1. Genesis 49:1 See Deut. 33, where Moses blesses the same tribes in a similar prophetic way.
2. Genesis 49:3 Reuben was the eldest of Jacob’s twelve sons and therefore entitled to the birthright, which would make him successor to his father as head of the family or tribe and inheritor of a double portion of his father’s estate. But Reuben forfeited all this by his conduct with Bilhah, his father’s concubine (Gen. 35:22). By adopting Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, and giving each of them a portion of the inheritance, Jacob virtually gave Joseph Reuben’s extra portion of the land. And Judah became the tribal leader in Reuben’s place (Gen. 49:8-10).
3. Genesis 49:4 The whole fertile territory once occupied by the tribe of Reuben has long since been deserted by its settled inhabitants and given up to the nomad tribes of the desert. Reuben did “not excel,” and even before Jacob’s death he had lost his “preeminence of the firstborn” (John D. Davis, A Dictionary of the Bible).
4. Genesis 49:7 This was literally fulfilled. Levi got no inheritance except 48 towns scattered throughout different parts of Canaan. As to Simeon, they were originally given only a few towns and villages in Judah’s lot (Josh. 19:1). Afterward, needing more room, they formed colonies in districts which they conquered from the Idumeans and the Amalekites I Chron. 4:39, 40. (Adam Clarke, The Holy Bible with A Commentary).
5. Genesis 49:27 The tribe of Benjamin is fitly compared to a ravenous wolf because of the rude courage and ferocity which they invariably displayed, particularly in their war with the other tribes, in which they killed more men than all of their own numbers combined (Adam Clarke, The Holy Bible with A Commentary). The tribe was absorbed by the tribe of Judah and is not mentioned after the return from the Babylonian captivity, except in connection with its former land or as the source of some individual person. Ehud, Saul, Jonathan, and the apostle Paul were Benjamites.

– Мы – твои рабы.

– Не бойтесь. Разве я Бог? ²⁰ Вы замыслили против меня зло, но Бог обратил его ко благу, чтобы совершить то, что происходит теперь: спасение многих жизней. ²¹ Поэтому не бойтесь: я прокормлю и вас, и ваших детей.

Он успокоил их и говорил с ними ласково.

²² Иосиф жил в Египте вместе с семьей отца, и прожил сто десять лет. ²³ Он застал еще третье поколение детей Ефрема; и детей Махира, сына Манассии, тоже положили при рождении на колени Иосифа^[c].

²⁴ Иосиф сказал братьям:

– Я умираю, но Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь и выведет вас из этой земли в землю, которую Он с клятвой обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову.

²⁵ Иосиф велел сыновьям Израиля дать клятву и сказал:

– Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь, и тогда вы должны вынести мои кости отсюда.

²⁶ Иосиф умер в возрасте ста десяти лет, и его набальзамировали и положили в гроб^[d] в Египте.

1 Corinthians 11:17-34 – Amplified Bible

But in what I instruct [you] next I do not commend [you], because when you meet together, it is not for the better but for the worse.

¹⁸ For in the first place, when you assemble as a congregation, I hear that there are cliques (divisions and factions) among you; and I in part believe it,

¹⁹ For doubtless there have to be factions or parties among you in order that they who are genuine and of approved fitness may become evident and plainly recognized among you.

²⁰ So when you gather for your meetings, it is not the supper instituted by the Lord that you eat,

²¹ For in eating each one [hurries] to get his own supper first [not waiting for the poor], and one goes hungry while another gets drunk.

²² What! Do you have no houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and mean to show contempt for it, while you humiliate those who are poor (have no homes and have brought no food)? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, [most certainly] I will not!

²³ For I received from the Lord Himself that which I passed on to you [it was given to me personally], that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was treacherously delivered up and while His betrayal was in progress took bread,

²⁴ And when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and said, Take, eat. This is My body, which is broken for you. Do this to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance.

²⁵ Similarly when supper was ended, He took the cup also, saying, This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink [it], to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance.

²⁶ For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death until He comes [again].

²⁷ So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy [of Him] will be guilty of [profaning and sinning against] the body and blood of the Lord.

²⁸ Let a man [thoroughly] examine himself, and [only when he has done] so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

²⁹ For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating andrecognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.

³⁰ That [careless and unworthy participation] is the reason many of you are weak and sickly, and quite enough of you have fallen into the sleep of death.

³¹ For if we searchingly examined ourselves [detecting our shortcomings and recognizing our own condition], we should not be judged and penalty decreed [by the divine judgment].

³² But when we [fall short and] are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined and chastened, so that we may not [finally] be condemned [to eternal punishment along] with the world.

³³ So then, my brothers, when you gather together to eat [the Lord’s Supper], wait for one another.

³⁴ If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together to bring judgment [on yourselves]. About the other matters, I will give you directions [personally] when I come.

¹⁷ Давая эти указания, я хочу сказать, что не хвалю вас, потому что ваши собрания часто приносят больше вреда, чем пользы. ¹⁸ Потому что, во-первых, я слышал, что, когда вы, как церковь, собираетесь вместе, среди вас всегда бывают разделения. Отчасти я верю этим слухам. ¹⁹ Несомненно, разногласия между вами должны быть, чтобы среди вас выявились те, кто прав. ²⁰ Но то, что вы делаете, когда собираетесь вместе, никак нельзя назвать участием в Вечере Господней. ²¹ Каждый из вас торопится съесть то, что принес, так что одни остаются голодными, а другие напиваются допьяна. ²² В таком случае ешьте и пейте лучше дома, а не позорьте церкви Божьей и не унижайте тех, кому, может, и действительно нечего есть. Что ж мне теперь, хвалить вас за это? Конечно, нет!

²³ Ведь я от Самого Господа принял и вам передал, что Господь Иисус в ночь, когда Он был предан, взял хлеб ²⁴ и, поблагодарив за него, разломил и сказал: «Это Мое тело, отдаваемое^[a] за вас. Делайте это в воспоминание обо Мне».²⁵ Также поступил и с чашей после ужина и сказал: «Эта чаша – новый завет, скрепленный Моей кровью. Делайте это каждый раз, когда пьете в память обо Мне». ²⁶ Потому что каждый раз, когда вы едите этот хлеб и пьете из этой чаши, вы свидетельствуете о смерти Господа. Делайте так, пока Он не придет.

²⁷ Таким образом, кто ест хлеб или пьет из чаши Господней, не придавая этому должного значения, тот грешит против тела и крови Господа. ²⁸ Человек должен проверять себя прежде, чем есть хлеб и пить из чаши, ²⁹ потому что каждый, кто ест или пьет, не осознавая значения тела Господа, тот ест и пьет в осуждение себе. ³⁰ Потому-то среди вас так много физически слабых и больных, а многие даже умерли. ³¹ Но если бы мы проверяли самих себя, то избежали бы осуждения. ³² Но когда нас судит Господь, мы подвергаемся наказанию, чтобы нам не быть осужденными вместе с остальным миром.

³³ Итак, братья, когда вы собираетесь есть вместе, не спешите, ждите друг друга. ³⁴ Если кто голоден, пусть лучше поест дома, чтобы ваши общие собрания не были вам в осуждение.

In those days when [again] an immense crowd had gathered and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and told them,

² I have pity and sympathy for the people and My heart goes out to them, for they have been with Me now three days and have nothing [left] to eat;

³ And if I send them away to their homes hungry, they will be feeble through exhaustion and faint along the road; and some of them have come a long way.

⁴ And His disciples replied to Him, How can anyone fill andsatisfy [these people] with loaves of bread here in [this] desolate and uninhabited region?

⁵ And He asked them, How many loaves have you? They said, Seven.

⁶ And He commanded the multitude to recline upon the ground, and He [then] took the seven loaves [of bread] and, having given thanks, He broke them and kept on giving them to His disciples to put before [the people], and they placed them before the crowd.

⁷ And they had a few small fish; and when He had ^[a]praised Godand given thanks and asked Him to bless them [to their use], He ordered that these also should be set before [them].

⁸ And they ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven [^[b]large provision] baskets full of the broken pieces left over.

⁹ And there were about 4,000 people. And He dismissed them,

8 В те же дни, когда опять собралась большая толпа и у людей не было еды, Иисус подозвал учеников и сказал:

² – Мне жаль этих людей, они со Мной вот уже три дня, и у них не осталось еды. ³ Если Я отпущу их по домам голодными, то они в дороге ослабеют, ведь некоторые пришли издалека.

⁴ – Как же здесь, в этой пустыне, найти достаточно хлеба, чтобы их накормить? – удивились ученики.

⁵ – Сколько у вас хлебов? – спросил Иисус.

– Семь, – ответили ученики.

⁶ Иисус велел людям возлечь на землю. Затем Он взял семь хлебов и, поблагодарив за них Бога, стал разламывать на куски, передавая ученикам, а те раздавали хлеб народу.⁷ Было у них и несколько рыбок; Иисус благословил их и тоже велел раздать. ⁸ Люди ели и насытились, и еще набралось семь корзин остатков. ⁹ А было там только мужчин около четырех тысяч человек. Иисус отпустил народ ¹⁰ и сразу же, сев вместе с учениками в лодку, отправился в земли Далмануты.
