Psalms 107–150

Psalm 107

¹ Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.

² Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
    those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
³ those he gathered from the lands,
    from east and west, from north and south.^[a]

⁴ Some wandered in desert wastelands,
    finding no way to a city where they could settle.
⁵ They were hungry and thirsty,
    and their lives ebbed away.
⁶ Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress.
⁷ He led them by a straight way
    to a city where they could settle.
⁸ Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
    and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
⁹ for he satisfies the thirsty
    and fills the hungry with good things.

¹⁰ Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness,
    prisoners suffering in iron chains,
¹¹ because they rebelled against God’s commands
    and despised the plans of the Most High.
¹² So he subjected them to bitter labor;
    they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
¹³ Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he saved them from their distress.
¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,
    and broke away their chains.
¹⁵ Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
    and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
¹⁶ for he breaks down gates of bronze
    and cuts through bars of iron.

¹⁷ Some became fools through their rebellious ways
    and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.
¹⁸ They loathed all food
    and drew near the gates of death.
¹⁹ Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he saved them from their distress.
²⁰ He sent out his word and healed them;
    he rescued them from the grave.
²¹ Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
    and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
²² Let them sacrifice thank offerings
    and tell of his works with songs of joy.

²³ Some went out on the sea in ships;
    they were merchants on the mighty waters.
²⁴ They saw the works of the Lord,
    his wonderful deeds in the deep.
²⁵ For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
    that lifted high the waves.
²⁶ They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
    in their peril their courage melted away.
²⁷ They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
    they were at their wits’ end.
²⁸ Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he brought them out of their distress.
²⁹ He stilled the storm to a whisper;
    the waves of the sea^[b] were hushed.
³⁰ They were glad when it grew calm,
    and he guided them to their desired haven.
³¹ Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
    and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
³² Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people
    and praise him in the council of the elders.

² (106-2) Так да скажут избавленные Господом, которых избавил Он от руки врага,

³ (106-3) и собрал от стран, от востока и запада, от севера и моря.

⁴ (106-4) Они блуждали в пустыне по безлюдному пути и не находили населенного города;

⁵ (106-5) терпели голод и жажду, душа их истаевала в них.

⁶ (106-6) Но воззвали к Господу в скорби своей, и Он избавил их от бедствий их,

⁷ (106-7) и повел их прямым путем, чтобы они шли к населенному городу.

⁸ (106-8) Да славят Господа за милость Его и за чудные дела Его для сынов человеческих:

⁹ (106-9) ибо Он насытил душу жаждущую и душу алчущую исполнил благами.

¹⁷ (106-17) Безрассудные страдали за беззаконные пути свои и за неправды свои;

¹⁸ (106-18) от всякой пищи отвращалась душа их, и они приближались ко вратам смерти.

¹⁹ (106-19) Но воззвали к Господу в скорби своей, и Он спас их от бедствий их;

²⁰ (106-20) послал слово Свое и исцелил их, и избавил их от могил их.

²¹ (106-21) Да славят Господа за милость Его и за чудные дела Его для сынов человеческих!

²² (106-22) Да приносят Ему жертву хвалы и да возвещают о делах Его с пением!

²³ (106-23) Отправляющиеся на кораблях в море, производящие дела на больших водах,

²⁴ (106-24) видят дела Господа и чудеса Его в пучине:

²⁵ (106-25) Он речет, --и восстанет бурный ветер и высоко поднимает волны его:

²⁶ (106-26) восходят до небес, нисходят до бездны; душа их истаевает в бедствии;

²⁷ (106-27) они кружатся и шатаются, как пьяные, и вся мудрость их исчезает.

²⁸ (106-28) Но воззвали к Господу в скорби своей, и Он вывел их из бедствия их.

²⁹ (106-29) Он превращает бурю в тишину, и волны умолкают.

³⁰ (106-30) И веселятся, что они утихли, и Он приводит их к желаемой пристани.

Evening

Psalm 107:33-43 – New International Version

³³ He turned rivers into a desert,
    flowing springs into thirsty ground,
³⁴ and fruitful land into a salt waste,
    because of the wickedness of those who lived there.
³⁵ He turned the desert into pools of water
    and the parched ground into flowing springs;
³⁶ there he brought the hungry to live,
    and they founded a city where they could settle.
³⁷ They sowed fields and planted vineyards
    that yielded a fruitful harvest;
³⁸ he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased,
    and he did not let their herds diminish.

³⁹ Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled
    by oppression, calamity and sorrow;
⁴⁰ he who pours contempt on nobles
    made them wander in a trackless waste.
⁴¹ But he lifted the needy out of their affliction
    and increased their families like flocks.
⁴² The upright see and rejoice,
    but all the wicked shut their mouths.

⁴³ Let the one who is wise heed these things
    and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.

³⁵ (106-35) Он превращает пустыню в озеро, и землю иссохшую--в источники вод;

³⁶ (106-36) и поселяет там алчущих, и они строят город для обитания;

³⁷ (106-37) засевают поля, насаждают виноградники, которые приносят им обильные плоды.

³⁸ (106-38) Он благословляет их, и они весьма размножаются, и скота их не умаляет.

Exodus 2:1-22 – New International Version

The Birth of Moses

Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, ² and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. ³ But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket^[a] for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. ⁴ His sisterstood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

⁵ Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it.⁶ She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said.

⁷ Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?”

⁸ “Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. ⁹ Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. ¹⁰ When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses,^[b] saying, “I drew him out of the water.”

Moses Flees to Midian

¹¹ One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. ¹² Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. ¹³ The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?”

¹⁴ The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”

¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well. ¹⁶ Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock. ¹⁷ Some shepherds came along and drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue and watered their flock.

¹⁸ When the girls returned to Reuel their father, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?”

¹⁹ They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.”

²⁰ “And where is he?” Reuel asked his daughters. “Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.”

²¹ Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. ²² Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom,^[c] saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

Epistle

1 Corinthians 12:27-13:3 – New International Version

²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. ²⁸ And God has placed in the church first of all apostles,second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? ³⁰ Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues^[a]? Do all interpret? ³¹ Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

Love Is Indispensable

And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

13 If I speak in the tongues^[b] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. ² If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. ³ If I give all I possess to the poorand give over my body to hardship that I may boast,^[c] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

²⁷ Итак, вы – тело Христа, и каждый из вас – орган в Его теле. ²⁸ В церкви Бог назначил одних быть апостолами, других – пророками, третьих – учителями. Он наделил некоторых силой совершать чудеса, других – дарами исцелений, одним дал дар помощи нуждающимся, другим – дар управления, а иным – разные языки. ²⁹ Разве все апостолы? Разве все пророки? Разве все учители? Разве все совершают чудеса? ³⁰ Разве все имеют дары исцелений? Разве все говорят языками? Разве всем дано толковать эти языки?³¹ Стремитесь иметь более важные дары!

Но сейчас я покажу вам самый превосходный путь.

Гимн любви

13 Если я говорю языками человеческими и ангельскими, но во мне нет любви, то я в таком случае не что иное, как звенящая медь, как бряцающие тарелки. ² Если у меня есть дар пророчества и я знаю все тайны, если мне даны все знания и у меня есть вера, способная передвигать горы, а нет любви, то я ничто. ³ Если я раздам все свое имущество и отдам мое тело на сожжение, но во мне нет любви, то ничто мне не поможет.

Mark 9:2-13 – New International Version

The Transfiguration

² After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. ³ His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. ⁴ And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.

⁵ Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” ⁶ (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)

⁷ Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”

⁸ Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.

⁹ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. ¹⁰ They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.

¹¹ And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”

¹² Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected? ¹³ But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”

² Через шесть дней Иисус взял с Собой Петра, Иакова и Иоанна и привел их на высокую гору. Они были там совсем одни. И на глазах учеников Его облик изменился. ³ Его одежда стала сияющей, ослепительно белой, как ни один белильщик в мире не смог бы отбелить. ⁴ Затем они увидели Илию и Моисея, беседующих с Иисусом. ⁵ Петр сказал Иисусу:

– Рабби, нам здесь так хорошо! Давай мы сделаем три шалаша: один Тебе, один Моисею и один Илии, – ⁶ он и сам не знал, что сказать, потому что они были сильно испуганы.⁷ Тут появилось облако и накрыло их, и из облака прозвучал голос:

– Это Мой любимый Сын, слушайте Его!

⁸ Ученики вдруг оглянулись и уже никого не увидели рядом с собой, кроме Иисуса.⁹ Когда они спускались с горы, Иисус предупредил их, чтобы они никому не рассказывали о том, что видели, до тех пор, пока Сын Человеческий не воскреснет из мертвых. ¹⁰ Они сохранили это в тайне, но между собой рассуждали о том, что же означают слова «воскреснуть из мертвых». ¹¹ А Иисуса они спросили:

– Почему учители Закона говорят, что вначале, перед Мессией, должен прийти Илия?

¹² – Верно, – ответил Иисус, – Илия действительно должен прийти первым и все приготовить^[a]. Но почему же о Сыне Человеческом в Писании говорится, что Ему придется перенести много страданий и унижений? ¹³ Но говорю вам, что Илия уже пришел^[b], и люди поступили с ним по своему произволу, как о нем и было написано^[c].
